What Do I Need to Use PS2 Saved Games on the PS3?

Playing old favorites from the PS2 on the PS3 is much better if you can bring your old save files along – fortunately there are several memory card readers and adaptors that can be used to transfer your old saves onto the PS3’s hard drive.

A memory card reader will generally have a number of slots for plugging in Playstation 2 (or even original Playstation) memory cards, as well as a USB connection to hook it up to the PS3. The cost for a Playstation 1 / 2 to Playstation 3 memory card reader is less than the price of a new game (or even some used games), which is a small price to pay to have all of your old saves available on your new system.

The best part is that it’s so simple – just download the files onto the PS3’s internal hard drive with your adapter, and your backward compatible games will be able to pick up right where you left off!
